Team Liquid have taken down Virtus.pro to become the sole North American team to advance to the IEM San Jose semifinals (16-2 on de_overpass and 16-9 on de_mirage).
The final match of the first day of IEM San Jose involved Team Liquid, who recently placed second at iBP Cup and third at the RGN Pro Series, against the Poles of Virtus.pro who were using a stand-in in the form of Michał "MICHU" Müller instead of Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski.
However, the match was not much of a competition at first as the Poles were completely wiped out on de_overpass with a 2-16 scoreline.
EliGE and nitr0 went off for Liquid
With Nick "nitr0" Cannella and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski continuing to display high-impact fragging at another offline event, the second map once again kicked off with Liquid developing an early lead and pulling ahead before Virtus.pro began to equalise.
Ultimately, it was Liquid's map and the North American took mirage with a 16-9 score and moved ahead into the IEM San Jose semifinals to face off against Na`Vi.
